Luguentz Dort is an interesting prospect, and one the Sacramento Kings would’ve been wise to add with the 55th pick.

Luguentz Dort was very productive last season for Arizona State and, like Ponds, he fills a need off the bench. He is a shooting guard, but his excellence on the defensive side of the ball makes him a candidate to plug-and-play next season in limited minutes.

His offensive skill-set still needs developing, especially his three-ball, but his ability to score isn’t exactly lacking, as he put up 16.1 points per game last season.

Dort is another prospect with a very high ceiling should everything come together, and was expected to be off the board by the time the Kings were on the clock. Not picking him could be a mistake in retrospect, as he is a good defender on a team devoid of them.

His shooting concerns are valid, but Justin James isn’t a good shooter either, and the Kings selected him with the 40th pick. Will Dort ever put it together? It’s impossible to say, but he would’ve been a nice flyer for a Kings team that could use some more defenders. And, unfortunately for the Kings, Dort has since been signed by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Next. Five players the Kings should’ve selected over Justin James. dark

Site-Expert’s Note: We at A Royal Pain are all excited to see Justin James, Kyle Guy and Vanja Marinkovic take the floor and wish them all the success in the world. This post isn’t to suggest those guys won’t become good (or even great) players, just that some players were still available who have a better chance of reaching that type of impact level.
