The Sacramento Kings May not be pursuing Nikola Vucevic, but that doesn’t mean there’s no chance they land a star center.

Clint Capela is exactly what the doctor ordered for the Sacramento Kings.  If the Kings are sheepish about adding Vucevic because he’s likely to command a max salary, Capela may not seem like the best option, given he’s got about $70 million remaining on his current deal he signed last season. But, that shouldn’t dissuade them.

Clint Capela is exactly what they need in a center, even if the cost to acquire him seems high at first.

Trending. With AD in LA, the Kings need to swing big. light

He’s a traditional center, who’s a solid rim-protector and rim-runner who doesn’t need to have a huge role on offense to succeed. He’s not a spacer, but with De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes and Marvin Bagley III capable of hitting three’s that concern isn’t as serious.

What is serious, however, is what the Rockets would likely command in any trade for the third member of their big three. Bogdan Bogdanovic alone probably isn’t enough to strike a deal, so adding Harry Giles is probably what’d it take to make this trade happen.

Whether or not it’s worth it depends almost entirely on how highly you regard Giles as a prospect. He was an abject disaster to start the season, but recovered incredibly as the season went on and became more than a playable rotation piece — he became a fan-favorite.

The risk could be worth the reward, but that risk might just be too high for Vlade Divac and Co. to make such a move.
