When the Sacramento Kings are on the clock at #40 in the NBA Draft, they need to make sure they get the selection right. Could Ty Jerome be that guy who the Kings hit the bill on?

Unless a trade happens, the Sacramento Kings will make their first pick in the upcoming NBA Draft at the 40th spot. One player that Sacramento has a chance at acquiring is Virginia Cavaliers’ guard Ty Jerome.

If Jerome slides in the draft to the 40th spot, the Kings would be foolish to pass on him. Jerome has worked out for the Kings, just one of the many players to do so this offseason, and is projected anywhere from the late first round to the middle of the second round.

Although the chances of Jerome being available to the Kings is low, the draft is always unpredictable. For example, Michael Porter Jr. was expected to go in the top eight in last year’s draft, but due to an injury he suffered, he fell to the 14th spot to the Denver Nuggets.

The further a player drops, the more unpredictable the draft becomes. With all the information from workouts the team has held, Sacramento should be able to pick a player or two who has slipped in the draft to help the team.

With the Kings on a mission to finally break their notorious playoff drought next year, this NBA Draft is significant because they need to acquire players that can help them now and in the long term.

To me, Jerome can be that guy and here is why.
