The Sacramento Kings’ fast-paced style is not a good fit for incoming free agent Nikola Vucevic.

That is the word from James Ham of NBC Sports California. According to a recent report, the Sacramento Kings will not pursue Orlando Magic’s Nikola Vucevic in free agency despite recent reports saying they would.

Even though the Kings probably will not land Vucevic next month, he would have definitely helped the team if acquired. The Kings had trouble scoring in the half-court set last season. Vucevic would have addressed this problem with his post play. His great passing ability on the fast break would also be a weapon as well.

Sacramento made Vlade Divac fit with the Kings version of show time. Is signing Vucevic really a bad fit? Or a bad fit with the price tag of a max deal that would make Vucevic the highest paying King for the next few years?

Bottom Line On Vucevic

There will be competition for Vucevic’s services if he decides to leave the Magic.  The Kings have made the choice that he is not an ideal fit for their system. Vlade knows there are options that might not be All-Star caliber but would do the job at a lower price.

Brook and Robin Lopez are names that have been mentioned. DeAndre Jordan is another example. Coach Walton and Divac seem to be making quick decisions on what direction the team needs to go. Vucevic could play with the Kings and fit with their current roster just fine. The front office just has other idea’s and plans.

With the NBA Draft and free agency getting nearer by the day, it will be interesting to see how Divac addresses the center position in the upcoming weeks.

Buckle up, Kings fans. It is about to be a wild ride!
