Tacko Fall is a one-trick pony with a chance to be an NBA specialist. He cannot shoot or handle the ball, but he can sure rebound and dunk the ball.
All his basic skills need a boatload of improvement. But with just his blocking, rebounding, and dunking, Fall will still garner attention from NBA teams. His shooting range is no further than the restricted area. This applies to his defense as well. He will not cover anyone shooting the long ball. Can Tacko improve his free throw shooting? He must, as he made just 36% at the stripe in his senior season. That will not cut it going forward.
With a weak draft, the Kings might not have any takers to move up with a trade. This is why Vlade could gamble one of his picks for Fall and not hurt the team. Why not have the underdog story of the NBA? Fall plays for the Stockton Kings packing the house and maybe dominating G-League talent. Either way, the Kings will be fine if Tacko Fall never sets foot on the court for Sacramento. It was about using a pick to give a player a chance to earn his way into the NBA.
Maybe the Kings find another Isaiah Thomas type player with the very last pick in the draft? They are at the 60th spot this year…
