The Final Verdict

To be perfectly frank, that trade Vlade Divac made with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2015 should have been a fireable offense the day it happened, and Vlade certainly should have been shown the door in the months immediately afterward. At the same time, Divac deserves credit for subsequently learning from his mistakes and building an exciting group of young guys with one hand tied behind his back. Even if he was the one who tied it in the first place.

Overall, the trade was foolish and costly, but the damage could have been so much worse. Yes, the Kings were largely bailed out by luck. But, given the history of the Sacramento Kings, is not a little luck worth celebrating?

The NBA Gods have been kind to the Sacramento Kings and Vlade Divac for the last couple of years. And hopefully, they will continue to be on Sacramento’s side as the Kings carry on with their mission of finally breaking their postseason drought, as well as eventually winning an NBA championship for the city of Sacramento.
