While Nemanja Bjelica and Yogi Ferrell were not the first names mentioned in connection with the Sacramento Kings last offseason, they — mostly Bjelica — helped bring a 14-win improvement to the Kings. They were part of the team that accomplished that, but they weren’t the top free agents  — they were late-summer signings.

With more players like Terry Rozier (please, no) Jeremy Lin and Michael Carter- Williams available the Kings will have plenty of options to upgrade at  backup point guard, even if not all are good ones. Still, they should explore every option.

Sacramento’s exciting group of young guys can attract a better group of players for the squad to choose from, but the Kings have a plenty of holes they need to address. It’ll be a matter of where Sacramento spends their money, maybe more than a question of finding someone who wants to play for the Kings.

Divac, it seems, does his due diligence when he brings players to Sacramento. The team should  Keep Mason or Ferrell, but not both and use that open spot to sign a taller playmaker with speed.  This would give the Kings bench unit options for nifty lineups when Fox needs a rest.

dark. Next. Should the Sacramento Kings target Nikola Vucevic?

Sacramento is loaded at power forward, but all other positions could use more depth. With the amount of cap space they have, the Kings will have to choose who they want to target wisely — prioritizing players who want to be here and who fill a need. As we head into summer, it’s clear Divac has a ton of research and phone calls to make.
