Chuma Okeke: SF/PF for Auburn

The Auburn Tigers had an amazing season and run in this year’s March Madness tournament. And a big reason why was because of Chuma Okeke.

For the year, Okeke averaged around 12 points, seven rebounds, and two assists per game while he made around 50% of his shots from the floor, 39% of his shots from the three-point line, and 72% of his shots from the free-throw stripe.

In his total tenure at Auburn, two years, Okeke averaged around 10 points, six rebounds, and one assist per contest while he shot around 48% from the floor, 39% from the perimeter, and 70% from the free-throw line.

Based on the numbers, Okeke made strides in his sophomore year as he was an asset for the Tigers’ interior on both ends. On offense, Okeke was able to be a versatile scorer as he could get a bucket through his post-up game or from outside the perimeter. On defense, Okeke did a good job this season in rebounding the basketball as well as forcing his opponents to turn the ball over as well.

The Kings have a pretty good group of young bigs on their roster already, but adding Okeke to the mix would bring some versatility within the group. As of now, improvements the Kings’ bigs can make are rebounding the ball and making their jump shots, and Okeke’s skillset can fulfill those needs.

Although contributions from Okeke would be delayed due to him still recovering from an ACL injury, he can be an asset for the Kings when he finally gets healthy. He was an active player during his time in college, and if he can maintain the same type of motor and production that he displayed this past year to the pros, the Kings should definitely take a risk in selecting him in the draft.
