The Detroit Piston are looking to build off a solid season that resulted in a playoff berth and the Kings might be looking for a more polished prospect, could this be a match made in basketball heaven?

Well, we saved the biggest for last and this is about as big as we can get without shipping of one of Harry Giles III or Marvin Bagley III, two players who the Sacramento Kings should view as untouchable.

The Kings would likely be hesitant to pull the trigger on this deal, because it is a lot to give up, but it may also be worth the risk to scoop up any lottery prospects who slide in the draft. Maybe Coby White, Brandon Clarke, Kevin Porter Jr. or Nassir Little fall and the Kings have this deal on the table, it’d be hard to pass up on a 19-21-year-old prospect with a high-ceiling in favor of a 26-year-old second-year player whose likely reached his ceiling.

For the Pistons, their coming off a playoff sweep at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks and aren’t necessarily close to competing. However, a Reggie Jackson-Luke Kennard-Blake Griffin-Bogdanovic small-ball lineup could be a solid lineup offensively, even if they might give up 120-plus points every night.

Logistics aside for the Pistons, they may be inclined to get the most of Blake Griffin — a player who’s coming off the best season of his career — now, rather than waiting to develop another rookie and hope he can contribute to a winning squad. That ceiling for Detroit might not be more than a second round playoff exit, but playoff wins and appearances are big money for NBA teams and it’s hard to mitigate how much that plays into on-court decisions.
