For the first time in forever, Sacramento Kings fans will not be worrying about the results of the NBA Draft Lottery. And that is ok knowing where their team is at.

Even though the Sacramento Kings did not make the playoffs this season, the results of the upcoming NBA Draft Lottery are irrelevant to them. Due to their next first-round pick belonging to either the Boston Celtics or Philadelphia 76ers, the Kings will go into the NBA Draft with their earliest pick being the 40th overall.

It does suck that the Kings at the moment will not be picking in the first round, but knowing the current situation of where their team is at helps cure the wound.

The Kings did not make the playoffs, but they were arguably one of the more exciting teams to watch this season. With most of their young core taking leaps of improvement and executing the fast-paced offense efficiently, the purple and white were a tough matchup against ANY team throughout the season.

When teams knew they were playing the Kings, they knew they needed to run and dial in for the full 48 minutes.

Final Thoughts

Obviously, it would be better if the Kings had a first-round pick in this year’s draft. But knowing that they are on the rise behind the play of their young talent, it makes losing the pick easier to swallow.

Even though tomorrow’s draft lottery means nothing to your team, Kings fans. It should be encouraging to know that your team is on the rise and are making strides in their rebuild.
