Even after having 12 NBA seasons under his belt, Corey Brewer wants to remain with the young Sacramento Kings and build something special.
Corey Brewer has only been with the Sacramento Kings for 24 games, but yet, he has fallen in love with the team. In the latest episode of the Road Trippin’ podcast (created by UNINTERRUPTED), Kings’ point guard De’Aaron Fox and color commentator Doug Christie were the hosts of the show, and they had fellow Kings Harrison Barnes and Corey Brewer as their guests.
During the podcast, the group talked shop about a lot of things, including where they think the team is heading going forward. It was then when Corey mentioned how he enjoyed his time in Sacramento and would love to stay with the team to help build up their young core.
"“I have a few good years left, and why not spend it with guys like this, where I can help them reach their potential?” -Corey Brewer"
Corey Brewer’s Value
As of now, Brewer is an unrestricted free agent. So if he does want to remain in Sacramento for next season, he and the Kings would need to mutually agree on another deal this summer.
It is hard to determine what the Kings will offer Brewer, but my guess is around the veterean minimum which I think will be good enough for Brewer to stay with the purple and white.
Final Thoughts
Years ago, it was close to impossible for the Sacramento Kings to attract free agents to their team, so it is cool to see that Corey Brewer has the purple and white as an ideal destination.
Brewer may not be a star player, but he is still a guy that can help any NBA club. He a guy that shows a lot of energy when on the floor and was a defensive asset for the Kings during his short time with the franchise this season.
In the 24 games that Brewer appeared in for Sacramento, he averaged around four points, three rebounds, and one assist per game.
