With Buddy Hield having a breakout season, is it still crazy to believe that he could participate in the NBA All-Star game one day?

I am not drunk or high when writing this up. I just have been watching Buddy Hield throughout his NBA career and have seen the three-year pro blossom quicker than I have expected.

When analyzing Buddy back in 2016, I thought he could have been a great addition if the Kings drafted him because he had the makings of being the ideal shooting guard for the team. A position that Sacramento was thin at during the time.

I even compared Buddy’s game to James Harden which now seems outlandish. I then scaled back to compare him to J.J. Redick, which now after this season, seems also outlandish. After three seasons of NBA basketball under his belt, I believe Buddy is ranked in between those two players. But has the promise to keep improving.

NBA Fits Buddy’s Game

Even after a breakout season for Buddy, many will probably disagree with me about his chances of becoming an All-Star player. But seeing how shooting the three-pointer is so significant in today’s NBA, I believe the dream can become a reality.

Buddy proved this season that he is one of the best shooters in the league. Even the numbers back it up as he was ranked ninth in the league in three-point shooting percentage (42.7%) and ranked fourth in total three-pointers made in the regular season.

Buddy also was able to achieve great shooting milestones like finishing in the top three in the Three-Point Shooting Contest during All-Star weekend and breaking the NBA record for most three-pointers made by a player in their first three seasons.

Final Thoughts

Look, I am not saying to bet your house that Buddy Hield will be a guaranteed All-Star in his career. But the thought of him actually playing in the game featuring the NBA’s best players does not seem absurd.

Based on how the NBA is trending, the three-point shot will remain to be a monumental aspect of the game. And based on the pattern of improvement Buddy keeps showing, his shooting and scoring dominance will continue to get better.

If Buddy continues to enhance his game and remains to be a bonafide scorer for the Kings, who says he cannot be an All-Star? Kings fans talk about how De’Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley III have an All-Star future. Let us include Buddy too.

Since coming to the Kings, Buddy has worked relentlessly on his game and his energy and effort on the court shows he has a true passion for the sport of basketball.
