Do Sacramento Kings Fans Still Want Luka Doncic?

With both Luka Doncic and Marvin Bagley III’s rookie years now in the books, do Sacramento Kings fans still wish that their team selected the Euroleague star with the second pick in last year’s draft?

The 2018 NBA Draft class showed this regular season that it has the potential for greatness. The top guys of the class were able to have breakout seasons which has resulted in giving hope towards their team’s fanbases.

One of the fanbases that received hope this season from their rookie was the Sacramento Kings. With the team selecting Marvin Bagley III with the second overall pick, Marvin showed this season that he has the makings of becoming one of the top scoring bigs in the game.

Even though Kings fans are thrilled to have Bagley as their guy, that was not necessarily the case during the draft, as most Kings fans were ready for their team to draft Luka Doncic with the second pick. Not to say they did not think Bagley was a good player, but rather they thought Doncic would be the better choice.

But with both of them finishing their rookie seasons, is this still a mindset from the fanbase?

Bagley Or Doncic?

Bagley had one heck of a season for the Kings, and as a result, he was able to win the heart of the Kings community. Not too long ago, we at A Royal Pain posted a survey on who Kings fans would rather have between Bagley and Doncic now. Based on the results, Kings fans have sided with Bagley as around 2/3 of the voting population (# people) chose him over Doncic at this moment.

Final Thoughts

Overall, it is pretty impressive how most Kings fans are now on the Bagley train considering how much the group collectively was high on Doncic. But maybe that is a testament to how much Bagley was able to showcase in his rookie year.

Bagley definitely has the potential to be an All-Star player in his career. He may even become an NBA superstar one day. If Marvin is able to reach his ceiling, there is no doubt stardom is coming his way and will have the Kings back in the playoffs in no time.
