An important summer is coming up for the Sacramento Kings and Vlade Divac which includes the free agency period. Will the Kings be able to attract anyone to their club?

The Sacramento Kings season is over, but that does not mean that the work stops. With the aspirations of getting the team back in the playoffs, the front office for Sacramento needs to have a good summer in terms of constructing a roster that can compete with the top teams in the NBA.

Although the Kings do have a ton of young and promising talent on their team, it proved last year that it is still not good enough to guarantee a playoff berth for next season.

With no first-round draft pick this summer, this leaves free agency as the best option for Vlade Divac and company to acquire players. So the question has to be asked, can the Kings land some quality free agents this season?

The Kings Are Becoming Attractive

You could not have said this a few years back. The purple and white were continuously in the basement of the NBA standings and really had no blueprint as to how to become relevant. Also, the idea of a player moving to Sacramento was not enticing due to it being a low-market city.

But now, the Kings have momentum. They have a young roster that showed constant improvement when they finished this season with a record of 39-43, the best record for the team since 2006. Not only that, but with the beautiful Golden 1 Center as the team’s facility, it makes going to work more enjoyable.

Not only should the Kings be able to tempt free agents this summer because of the facts pointed above, but at least one player views Sacramento as an attractive spot. That player is Jared Dudley who is currently on the Brooklyn Nets. In a podcast that he did with Sam Amick and Joe Vardon, he mentioned how the Kings are a good example of a team that could lure free agents due to their ability to make the postseason soon and the amount of cap space they have.

So at least one player views going to Sacramento as a great opportunity.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Sacramento Kings should be able to entice free agents to be on their team. Those players may not be superstars, but rather guys that can fill holes that are on the current roster. The team is young, they showed they can compete against the top teams in the league, and they have the money to pay for guys no problem.

Buckle up, Kings fans. I have a feeling that this is going to be a wild summer for the purple and white.
