The Next Stephen Curry?: Buddy Hield

Buddy Hield had big shoes to fill when he was the highlighted asset that the Kings got in return for trading DeMarcus Cousins. And as time has told us, Buddy has turned into quite the offensive weapon.

Let us first analyze Buddy’s previous season. During his sophomore year, he was a solid offensive asset as he averaged around 13 points and four rebounds a contest while making over 44% of his shots from the floor, 43% from the three-point line, and 87% from the free-throw stripe.

The Kings already thought they had a solid sharpshooter in Buddy Hield after year number two, but this year he upgraded from just a sharpshooter to an overall bonafide scorer. For the year, Buddy was able to appear in all 82 regular-season games. During that span, he averaged around 21 points and five rebounds a contest while making around 46% of his total shots, 43% of his three-pointers, and 89% of his free-throws.

When Kings’ owner Vivek Ranadive made the notion that Buddy Hield could be the next Stephen Curry, it seemed outrageous at the time. Ok, it is still a stretch. But after this season, Buddy has proven that he is one of the elite shooters in the league.
