Rejuvenated Career: D’Angelo Russell
After enduring a long-term injury and the culture of the Los Angeles Lakers, D’Angelo Russell is starting to show why he was the second overall pick in the 2015 draft.
After producing so-so numbers throughout his first three NBA seasons, Russell showed this year why scouts loved him when he was balling out at Ohio State.
In his 2017-18 campaign, Russell averaged around 15 points, five assists, and four rebounds a contest while making around 41% of his shots from the floor, 32% from the perimeter, and 74% from the free-throw line.
This season, Russell finally showcased his potential to be an All-Star player as he finished the regular season averaging around 21 points, seven assists, and four rebounds a night while shooting around 43% from the court, 37% from three, and 78% from the free-throw line.
As a result, Russell led the Brooklyn Nets to their first playoff appearance since the 2014-15 season and was invited to participate in the NBA All-Star game.
The beginning of D’Angelo Russell’s career was a wild rollercoaster. But now Russell is in a good place with a competitive Nets team that allows him the freedom to utilize his skill set to the fullest.
