The Unforeseen All-Star: Nikola Vucevic

After seven seasons in the NBA, it seemed like Nikola Vucevic found his niche in the league by being a solid starting center. Throughout his career, Vucevic became a double-double machine by being a solid scorer and great rebounder. But this year, he suddenly took his game to greater heights.

Last season, Vucevic averaged 16 points and nine rebounds a game while making over 47% of his shots from the floor. This year, he was able to increase those numbers as he averaged around 21 points and 12 rebounds a night while making almost 52% of his shots. Vucevic also was able to develop a decent perimeter shot as he made over 36% of his attempts from the area.

Vucevic was always known as a solid big man in the NBA, but the question was whether he could be a star player and adjust his game towards being a stretch five. At least in this season, Vucevic has made tremendous strides in doing so, and a result, he earned his first invitation to the NBA All-Star game and is the best player on an Orlando Magic squad that is competing in the playoffs.
