Sacramento Kings: Buddy Hield Makes History In Portland
By Rafe Wong
In the Sacramento Kings’ season finale, Buddy Hield put his name in the NBA record books.
With the Sacramento Kings playing against the Portland Trail Blazers tonight, Buddy Hield had a golden opportunity to get his name in the NBA record books.
Entering the contest, Hield was tied with Blazers point guard Damian Lillard for the most three-pointers made by a player in their first three NBA seasons with 599. But with one game left for the Kings this year, Buddy needed just one shot made from beyond the arc to own the top spot on the list.
Once the game began, Buddy did not waste any time with history on the line. In the middle of the first quarter, Hield was able to hit a three-pointer which put him at 600 made threes, earning him the lone leader spot over Lillard.
Once the game ended, Buddy added two more threes putting his made three-pointers total to 602.
Buddy Has Come A Long Way
It has been quite the NBA journey for Buddy Hield. When drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2016, there were doubts whether he could become a legit sharpshooter in the NBA.
During his rookie year, those doubts started to increase as Buddy suffered growing pains early. But once he got traded to the Kings, Buddy’s game started to improve.
As Buddy’s NBA career progressed, so has his game. Every year, Buddy’s game continues to get better. And as a result, he has become a powerhouse scorer for the Kings and has earned the reputation of being one of the most deadly perimeter shooters in the NBA.
Congrats on owning the record, Buddy! The Kings and your fans cannot wait to see what Year #4 has in store for you!
