How The Sacramento Kings Can Reach Win #40?
By Rafe Wong
With just one more regular-season game left for the Sacramento Kings, they have the chance to reach an important milestone in their rebuild.
The hopes of competing in the postseason died for the Sacramento Kings last week as they lost to the Houston Rockets. But with that said, they continue to have the mindset to win as many games as they can.
Unfortunately, that has not fared well for the purple and white as they have lost a handful of winnable games recently which has worsened their total season record.
Even though the Kings have struggled in the final stage of their season, they still have a record of 39-42 and one last chance to record a 40-win season. The last time the Kings achieved this goal was all the way back in 2006.
The Kings’ Final Obstacle
Unfortunately, the Kings’ last game of the year will be against the Portland Trail Blazers who are one of the best teams in the Western Conference.
Portland is currently the fourth seed in the West and are looking to make one last jump in the standings before the playoffs begin. So expect them to bring their A-game against the young Kings.
Also, the game is hosted by the Blazers who are considered one of the best teams when playing on their home court.
What Does Sacramento Need To Do?
If the Kings want to upset the Blazers and reach 40 wins, they need to play their best basketball in quite some time. Offensively, they must control the pace of the game. Let De’Aaron Fox up the tempo and set up his teammates for open shots. And make sure those shots go in.
On the defensive end, the Kings need to bring the same energy as they do on offense and be aggressive, especially on the perimeter. Close down on Portland’s guard, like Damian Lillard, and make sure they are not getting any easy shots up all night.
The task of achieving 40 wins for the season will be a tough and exhausting challenge for the Kings. But with only one more regular-season match left until next October, why not go all out and end this campaign on a high note?
Sacramento failed to reach their objective in their home finale but can do it on Wednesday night in their season finale.
