The Sacramento Kings have made tremendous strides this season, but they are now experiencing growing pains in the next level of their rebuild.

There is no doubt that the 2018-19 season has been a fun one for the Sacramento Kings. An organization that has experienced many years of losing is finally developing into a team that seems primed for a new culture of competitiveness and winning.

Even though Sacramento has been a surprise this NBA season and their future looks bright, they have struggled as of late.

The Next Step

In the last few weeks, the Kings have suffered a lot of close losses which eventually led to their recent playoff elimination. To be fair, a lot of their losses have been to teams that are better than them by record. The Kings have shown this year that they can beat teams that are inferior to them but have done little against the upper-tier clubs in the league.

That is the next step for the Kings in their rebuild. It is a must that they not only close better in games going forward but also in matches when they play against higher competition.

Final Thoughts

This expectation may be asking for too much, as the Kings are still a roster filled with a bevy of young and inexperienced guys. But right now it is a current problem with the team that needs to be addressed sooner than later.

Hopefully, the Kings are able to learn from their recent late-game breakdowns and execute better in future situations. If able to, it will help immensely in the team’s growth.

The purple and white have the personnel to potentially become a top-tier team in the NBA someday. But in order for them to reach their ceiling, finishing in late-game situations is key.
