As long as the Sacramento Kings are winning, Kings fans should be happy campers.

Yesterday, the Sacramento Kings were in Madison Square Garden as they faced off against the New York Knicks. Going into the game, the Kings were heavy favorites despite being the visiting team. With the purple and white competing for a spot in the playoffs while the Knicks are competing for the first overall pick, it seemed like a blowout win was inevitable for Sacramento. Well, that did not go according to plan.

The Kings did not bring their A-game yesterday. Heck, they did not even bring their B-game. Throughout the contest, the Scores struggled to make shots as they collectively made just under 38% of their field goal attempts. The Sacramento defense also had trouble defending players like Dennis Smith Jr., Emmanuel Mudiay, and DeAndre Jordan who got the Knicks ahead early in the game.

De’Aaron & Buddy Start Cooking

Luckily, the Kings got themselves a pretty good starting backcourt as De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield put the Kings on their backs in the second half. As a result, the duo combined for 49 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists for the game, anchoring Sacramento towards the 102-94 victory.

Mission Completed

Overall, the Kings did not play well in their lone outing at Madison Square Garden. But with that being said, they got the win which means their goal was accomplished.

With just 17 games left in the season and the Kings trailing by 3 1/2 games from the eighth seed, they need all the wins they can get in order to compete in the postseason. Obviously, their performance yesterday against New York was below their expectations, but a win is a win which helps them in the standings.

Hot. The Kings might miss the playoffs, but that’s OK. light

So enjoy this recent win, Kings fans. But the Kings also need to up their game going forward as tougher competition awaits.
