Will Marvin Bagley make his return from a knee injury Saturday?

Remember when Marvin Bagley III went down with what looked like a serious knee injury last month? Well, if you remember, his original diagnosis was a bruised knee that would keep him out for 1-2 weeks. Saturday marks 10 days since the injury happened, meaning Bagley should be returning to the floor soon if everything has gone to play in his recovery.

The Sacramento Kings haven’t provided any updates since his original injury — par for the course with the Kings medical staff this season — but Jason Anderson of the Sac Bee reported late Friday night that the team was going to give an update on Bagley Saturday. Furthermore, Anderson also said Bagley is indeed with the team in New York, and with the team returning to Sacramento until March 17th, that would seem to indicate the team expects him to return to action on this road trip.

Needless to say, Bagley’s return would be huge for this team as they head into the stretch run. The need for Bagley’s return is made even more clear as this team struggles to gain meaningful contributions from Nemanja Bjelica who has struggled immensely as of late.

Getting Bagley back not only gives the Sacramento Kings one of their most important players back playing meaningful minutes, but it allows them to return to a traditional lineup that better utilizes Harrison Barnes in his natural small forward position, and not having him play power forward as much.
