Now we’re at the less bold part of the slide show, but also the most realistic. Buddy Hield is having a historic season in Kings history. As things sit, he is top-5 in three-point field goals made, three-point field goal percentage and effective field goal percentage for a single season. He’s also top-10 in three-point field goal attempts and could to jump to the top-5 in career  three-pointers made, though he has a long way to go to catch Peja Stojakovic’s 1,070 career made threes.

At the end of the 2018-19 season though, Buddy Hield will be the new single-season leader in three-point field goals made, breaking the record set back in 2003-04 by Stojakovic — a season where he hit 240 threes. Buddy has 212 with 19 games left and averages over seven attempts per game so this isn’t too bold, but it’s going to happen. What is bold, however, is saying Buddy Hield will break the record while hitting 300+ threes on the season. That’s right, I said it.

In order to hit that mark, Buddy will need to hit 4.6 threes per game over the Kings’ final 19 games. He’s hitting 3.4 on the season. A big jump? Absolutely, but saying he was just going to break record by needing to hit just 1.6 threes per game wasn’t spicy enough.

On a lesser note, Buddy will also finish as the single season leader in three-point attempts for the Sacramento Kings, passing up Stojakovic’s 554 attempts during the same 2003-04 season. Buddy only need to attempt 3.8 threes per game to break this record and since he’s currently attempting 7.6 threes per game, the record-breaking number will likely be over 600.

One thing is clear though, Buddy Hield will be cemented in Sacramento Kings history after this season and if he keeps it up while playing a lengthy career in Sacramento, he might be held in the same breath as Peja before it’s all said and done.
