Sacramento Kings: Analyzing Their Upcoming Opponents
By John Kelly
Let us dive into the next couple of games that the Sacramento Kings have on their schedule. Their opponents will be the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics.
A Good Opportunity For Wins
Let us be realistic, the last two weeks put a damper on the Sacramento Kings’ playoff drive. But fortunately, they have two “easy” games ahead as they will play the New York Knicks twice within six days.
These two games are golden opportunities for the Kings. The Knicks are in rebuild mode after trading Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks. The main players that New York received from the trade were Dennis Smith Jr. and DeAndre Jordan.
Recently, New York played and lost to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. DeAndre Jordan was on the injury list (ankle) along with Mario Hezonja. This leaves the Knicks thin on veteran players which impacts their play on both ends of the floor.
The Knicks are competing with the Phoenix Suns for the worst record in the league. The Kings are a better team that cannot overlook the Knicks as an easy win. These are two games the purple and white can and must win.
Great Timing To Face Boston
Who knows what is going on with the Boston Celtics? A once powerhouse team in the East are currently in the middle of the pack in the playoff seedings. For the Kings, this is a good time to play them.
The flip side of that coin is that the same can be said for the Celtics. The Kings have also been losing lately and the Celtics do have a better roster than the purple and white. If Boston is able to bring their A-game against Sacramento, they are definitely an elite team that would surely hand the Kings a loss. Hopefully, the Celtics remain discombobulated.
Final Thoughts
The Kings really need to begin winning in order for their playoff hopes to remain alive. In my opinion, they have a solid chance of going undefeated in their next three games. The two against the Knicks are close to shoo-ins as long as the Kings do not get caught slipping. As for Boston, Sacramento can cause the upset if they keep playing the way they have in the past week.
Let us hope that brighter days are coming for the Sacramento Kings!
