The Sacramento Kings are doing more than just talking about making the playoffs this season.

The Sacramento Kings have been the pleasant surprise of the NBA so far. A team that was predicted to win around 25 games this season currently has 31 with still 23 games remaining in their campaign.

Right now, every game is critical for the purple and white. As the ninth seed in the Western Conference, they have the chance to break their 12-year playoff drought if they can reach the top eight by season’s end. But teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Minnesota Timberwolves all have their eyes on postseason basketball as well.

Even though tough competition awaits the young Kings, their confidence has never faded. Guys like De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield have been adamant about their team’s chances of earning their ticket to the big dance. Hey, Buddy even said he would bet his house that the Kings would make the playoffs. Well, sort of.

The Scores Are Here To Stay

For the last week, we have heard the young Kings talk. Now that the All-Star break is over, it is now time for them to walk. Or in their case, run.

So far, in two games, the Kings are playing like they mean business. A hard fought, but heartbreaking, match against the Golden State Warriors last Thursday showed that the Kings do not fear any opponent.

The Scores kept that mentality tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder as the purple and white were able to beat the Western Conference powerhouse on their hardwood with a thrilling 119-116 victory.

Due to the Kings’ aggressive and fast style of play, while having their young guys improving by the game, their play has definitely elevated recently.

Final Thoughts

The chances of the Kings finally breaking their playoff drought this year seems low, but boy, are they putting up a fight to prove the doubters wrong. Game in and game out, the Kings are doing everything they can to earn the win. They may not execute perfectly every time, but at least the effort and energy are there from the guys repping “Sacramento” on the floor.

Buckle up, Kings fans. Your youngsters are confident and hungry to shock the rest of the NBA world in their next 23 games.

A superteam, just young.
