The Sacramento Kings have traded veteran Iman Shumpert in exchange for Alec Burks and a draft pick.
The Sacramento Kings have finally made some noise. With the trade deadline expiring, the question started to be asked whether Vlade Divac was going to make a deal? Well, that question has finally been answered with the latest news.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, NBA Insider for ESPN, the Kings, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Houston Rockets have all agreed on a three-way trade. As a result, the Kings will receive Alec Burks and a second-round pick, the Cavaliers get Marquese Chriss, Brandon Knight, and a protected first-round pick, and the Rockets will receive Iman Shumpert, Nik Stauskas, and Wade Baldwin.
A Little Bit About Alec Burks
For the Kings, they are receiving another two-guard in Burks. Throughout his seven-year career, he has been a solid two-way player for teams like the Utah Jazz and recently the Cleveland Cavaliers. During that span, he has averaged around 10 points, three rebounds, and two assists per contest while making around 42% of his shots from the floor, 36% of his three-pointers, and 77% of his free-throws.
In his current campaign, he is averaging around 11 points, four rebounds, and two assists per game while shooting around 46% from the court, 38% from beyond the arc, and 82% from the charity stripe.
Final Thoughts
Even though the Kings may have upgraded the talent on their roster with this trade, it did cost them to give up Shumpert to Houston. This season, Shumpert has been a valuable asset to the Kings as he was a great veteran mentor towards the team’s youngsters. His presence will definitely be missed as the season goes on.
Good luck for the rest of the season, Iman! And thank you for making a positive impact during your time with the Kings. As for Alec Burks, welcome to the purple and white! Let us get the Kings back to the playoffs!
