Sacramento Kings Acquire Harrison Barnes Through Trade
By Rafe Wong
The Sacramento Kings keep making moves as they have officially acquired Harrison Barnes through trade.
It has been a busy day for Vlade Divac and the Sacramento Kings. It started off with a trade that sent Iman Shumpert to the Houston Rockets in which the Kings received Alec Burks in return.
Now, according to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Kings are finalizing a deal with the Dallas Mavericks which will bring Harrison Barnes to Sacramento. The specifics of the trade will be that the Kings will receive Barnes and the Mavericks will get Justin Jackson and Zach Randolph in return.
A Little Bit About Harrison
This season, in 48 games, Barnes is averaging around 18 points and four rebounds a game while shooting around 41% from the floor, 39% from beyond the arc, and 83% from the free-throw line.
Thoughts On The Deal
Since the Kings decided to rebuild their team from the ground up, the small forward spot has always been a need. The position is still thin at the moment, but at least the Kings believe they have their small forward for the future.
Not too long ago, I wrote an article about the benefits of the Kings acquiring Barnes through trade. When analyzing his game, he is a guy that has the ability to be a 3-and-D guy which is a big need that the Kings have to fill going forward.
Not only does Barnes have the ability to be a positive presence on both ends of the floor, but he is also known as a high character guy which will be a plus for the Kings’ youngsters on and off the court.
Well, Kings fans have questioned how Vlade would solve the small forward issue, and he just gave them his solution tonight. Welcome to the team, Harrison! As for Justin Jackson and Z-Bo, good luck going forward. The effort and commitment you guys put towards the Kings were highly appreciated!
