The Sacramento Kings had the chance to end their road trip on a high note, but they ended up getting spanked by the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Sacramento Kings capped off their six-game road trip today as they faced off against the Los Angeles Clippers. Unfortunately, the purple and white were unable to get the job done as they fell by a score of 122-108.

With this loss, the Kings now fall to a record of 25-25 which puts them at the tenth seed in the Western Conference standings. As for the Clippers, they now are 28-22 for the season as they are the eighth seed in the West.

Kings Missed Their Chance

Prior to today, the Kings were not playing good basketball as they only won twice in their last five games. And the Kings were very fortunate to win two of those games.

To be fair, the Kings were playing all their games on the road, so it did make those games more difficult to win. But with that being said, most of their matches were still against winnable opponents.

Even with Sacramento experiencing struggles on the road, they still had a chance to make it a success this afternoon. Prior to their road trip beginning, my expectation for the Kings was to at least win three games, so a win against the Clippers today would have made that a reality.

Instead of coming out hot, the Kings were flat out of the gate. They had little moments where they were able to grasp momentum, but overall, the Clippers pretty much controlled the majority of the game.

What Now?

Now that the Kings’ road trip is over, the aftermath is not pretty as their record has dipped and they have lost valuable ground in the playoff race. With today’s loss, they now are three games back from the eighth seed.

The six-game road trip did not work in the Kings’ favor, but maybe their next stretch of games can get them back on track? The Kings played their last six contests on the road, and now they get to play in their beautiful Golden 1 Center for their next six games.

This stretch of games does contain some tough opponents like the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs, but it also consists of inferior opponents like the Atlanta Hawks and Phoenix Suns.

In order for the Kings to get back into the playoff conversation, they need to win most of the games in their upcoming homestead. Hopefully, the Golden 1 crowd can help them out in returning back to their winning ways.
