The Sacramento Kings have just one more game left against the Golden State Warriors this season, but a potential playoff matchup isn’t out of the question. While there’s almost no way the Kings win a series against Golden State, barring injuries, the Kings and Warriors match up well and it’d be one amazing series. So why not add former Warriors small forward Harrison Barnes?

Alright, in all seriousness, the Kings don’t make this trade just to have a Barnes revenge game against Golden State. But, Barnes’ addition to this roster could give the Kings a chance to steal a game or two against the Warriors in the postseason, as well as help the Kings get there in the first place. This, stop me if you’ve heard this before, wouldn’t cost the Kings much, except for cap-space.

Barnes is currently signed for another year at $25 million, not including this season at $24 million. He is, however, averaging 17.9 points and 4.1 rebounds, but similar to Hardaway Jr., he’s shooting poorly from the field at just 41 percent. He’s also a big-negative on the defensive end, currently sporting a -2.1 defensive box plus/minus on the season.

More. Three reasons to trade for Harrison Barnes. light

This one could help the Kings in their playoff push, but there’s likely better options out there. If the Kings could get some draft assets attached to this deal, then maybe it’s worth it, but at this point it might be better for them to focus on other targets.
