The Sacramento Kings will host the Detroit Pistons tonight. And in order for the purple and white to be successful, they need a good performance from their big men.
The Sacramento Kings are coming off arguably their worst loss of the season, but they have the chance to get back on track tonight as they will host the Detroit Pistons.
For the Kings, they have been on a slump since entering the new year. In their last six games, they have only won once and currently hold a record of 20-21. As for the Pistons, they have had a mediocre season so far as their record of 17-22 has them as the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference.
With both teams on the border of playoff contention in their respected conferences, tonight’s game is an important one. Especially for Sacramento, a win here would be big. It could finally get the purple and white back on track to their winning ways which would be huge considering they have a string of winnable games coming up on their schedule.
So what is the formula for how the Sacramento Kings can win this game?
How The Kings Can Get The Dub?
Obviously, the Kings have to play within themselves. Led by De’Aaron Fox, their offense needs to be electric by playing at a fast rate, taking care of the basketball, and making their open shots.
As for the defensive side of the ball, the Kings need to focus on the Pistons’ main strength which is their starting frontcourt. Guys like Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond have been the powerhouses for Detroit this season, so the Kings need to dial in when defending them.
Obviously, it is quite a challenge to fully lock down the Pistons’ two-headed monster. For the season, the two combine for around 42 points and 23 rebounds a game. But if the Kings can just prevent them from lighting up the stat sheet, they should be alright.
Guys like Willie Cauley-Stein, Nemanja Bjelica, and Harry Giles will get most of the minutes against those two. The Kings’ bigs need to make sure they are running the floor and rebounding the ball well tonight.
If Sacramento can get back to their regular ways on offense and their bigs can defend the Pistons’ frontcourt well, then they should get the victory tonight in front of their Golden 1 crowd.
