Sacramento Kings: 3 Players Who Need To Step Up During Bagley’s Absence
By Rafe Wong
With Marvin Bagley III being sidelined a little longer than expected, which three players on the Sacramento Kings need to step up during his absence?
The Sacramento Kings received some discouraging news the other day when they found out their prized rookie in Marvin Bagley III will be sidelined for at least another two weeks to recover from his knee injury. Back on December 14, Bagley suffered a bone bruise when competing against the Golden State Warriors. At the time, it was reported that Bagley would be out for just two weeks, but now it looks like they are being cautious with him as another two weeks are added to his recovery timetable.
Obviously, this news hurts for the Kings and their fans. Not only does Marvin’s absence deprive him of valuable time to develop and get better individually, but it also takes away a solid asset from Sacramento.
Even though Bagley is coming off the bench, he has been a beneficial piece in the Kings’ main rotation of players with his ability to score, rebound, and run the floor. In 26 games this season, he is averaging around 13 points, six rebounds, and one block per contest while making around 53% of his shots from the floor and 35% of his three-pointers.
Now that it is official that the Kings will not have Bagley for the next couple of weeks, it means they need to go deep into their bench for reinforcement. Luckily, Sacramento has a plethora of big men on their roster, but can any of them provide close to the same production that Bagley was giving the purple and white when he was healthy?
In my opinion, there are three guys that have the potential to do so if they can step up their games. With that said, let us dive into this slideshow showcasing three players that the Kings will turn to during Marvin Bagley’s absence.
