Gift #3: The Culture of Winning

This is the best present that the Kings surprised their fans with. Prior to this season, many expected the Kings to win around 25-30 games for the campaign which would have had them again the basement of the NBA standings.

But here we are, with the season almost halfway through and the Kings are STILL competitive! With a record of 18-15, the Kings currently are the seventh seed in the strong Western Conference, leading teams like the Houston Rockets, Utah Jazz, Minnesota Timberwolves, and New Orleans Pelicans.

After missing the postseason for the last 12 years, Kings fans started to lose hope in their team. An expectation of losing was definitely developed within the franchise and community, and even though optimism was present during this season, no one really expected to see the purple and white in the playoff picture. Even Dave Joerger has stated his astonishment with his team

But the players of the Sacramento Kings wanted that to change the culture this year. They made it a mission to do what they can to make sure this year’s team would be both competitive and entertaining for their fans to watch.

So far, this Kings season has been successful, and I am sure many Kings fans see this new culture of winning from their team to be a great (but surprising) gift to receive this year!
