Although it is close to impossible for the Sacramento Kings to acquire Jimmy Butler this season, what would their best offer be if they were to be in the hunt for the multiple All-Star?

As of late, the NBA and drama go together like peanut butter and jelly. It is always surrounding the NBA and the star players that are in the league.

Not too long ago, the news came out that Jimmy Butler of the Minnesota Timberwolves wants out from his team and is looking to be traded this year. It is reported that the teams he is interested in joining are the Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, and New York Knicks.

To no surprise, the Sacramento Kings did not make the list of top teams that Butler would like to join. But let us daydream a bit and imagine if the Kings actually had a legit shot at acquiring the multiple All-Star. What type of offer could Vlade Divac make to Minnesota that would send Butler to California’s capital?

Let us explore a trade offer in which I think would sway the Timberwolves.

The Offer

Butler’s salary for this season is around $19 million, so the Kings would need to send multiple players to Minnesota just to make sure the salaries work out on both ends.

Zach Randolph would probably be part of the deal as he is due to make over $11 million this season. The Kings would also have to send some young assets that would attract the Timberwolves to the offer. In my opinion, picking two from the list of Bogdan Bogdanovic, Buddy Hield, Willie Cauley-Stein, and Skal Labissiere would probably be those assets. Add a future second-round pick to the mix and the Kings might give the Timberwolves something to think about.

Should The Kings Make This Deal?

The addition of Butler would certainly improve the Kings, especially since small forward is the biggest need for them at the moment. But if Butler does not commit to Sacramento long-term, Vlade should not even consider trading for him. It is just too risky for the Kings to give up young assets in the slim chance that they could lock down their small forward of the future.
