The Sacramento Kings have had a relatively quiet offseason up to this point. The summer is winding down with little left to be determined. Sure, there are a few restricted free agents out there, and where will Carmelo Anthony end up? But free agency is mostly over and the summer league comes to an end in the next few days. The “dark days” are soon upon us.
As the great Will Smith said in Independence Day “I ain’t heard no fat lady,” the NBA offseason is not over, but little remains to be decided. The Sacramento Kings could potentially still make an interesting move. Like, extend an offer sheet to Marcus Smart or Clint Capela. Or absorb a contract and acquire a future first-round pick(s). But who are we kidding, those moves seem unlikely.
Let us have a discussion about the Kings’ offseason thus far. Next, I share my thoughts and analysis of the Kings’ selection of Marvin Bagley III, the front office’s decision to ride the pine in reference to free agency, and the Garrett Temple trade.
