A former Sacramento Kings player and fan favorite in Isaiah Thomas found a new home as he signed with the Denver Nuggets on July 12.

The Sacramento Kings continue their rebuild with an eye on adding to their young talented core.  A former Sacramento fan favorite found a new home on July 12, though.

Isaiah Thomas agreed to a one-year deal with the Denver Nuggets.  Thomas’ hip injury limited the market, but the Pizza Guy has a chance to prove he is healthy next season and head back into free agency next offseason.  IT turns 30 in February and will likely be searching for his final long-term deal.

He will also play under former Sacramento Kings head coach Michael Malone this season in Denver.

Time with Sacramento

The Kings drafted Isaiah Thomas with the last pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.  The 5’9 point guard played three seasons in Sacramento and averaged 20.3 points per game in his final year.  IT became a fan favorite for his high energy play and the fact that at 5’9 he gave us all hope of being able to ball out.  Thomas brings the excitement and is one of the top players to watch when healthy.

Thomas also was well known in Sacramento for his “Pizza Guy” advertisement which you can see below.

Bounced around

Since leaving the Kings, Thomas has bounced around the NBA a bit.  Sacramento traded him to Phoenix who moved him to Boston during that season.  IT played terrific with the Celtics including a season where he averaged 28.9 points per game, but they traded him to Cleveland in the Kyrie Irving deal.  The Cavs moved him on mid-season to the Lakers.  It has been a wild ride for Thomas during his NBA career.

Final thoughts

Former Sacramento Kings Isaiah Thomas signed to play for the Denver Nuggets next season.  Sacramento will face Thomas four times in the coming year.  Hopefully, the Pizza Guy does not burn the Kings at any point.  Here is to wishing Isaiah Thomas best of luck recovering from his hip injury and having the ability to star on the court for the Nuggets.
