NBA Draft: Luka Doncic stays in draft: Where does he go?
By Tyler Watts
Real Madrid star Luka Doncic decided to remain in the 2018 NBA Draft and should be a top-five selection on Thursday, June 21.
NBA Draft night is fast approaching, and one of the top players will remain in the pool of prospects. Luka Doncic continues to pile on the accolades with Real Madrid and created some buzz that he may stay in Europe. That will not be the case as Doncic is remaining in the 2018 draft.
Top pick?
He is in contention to be Sacramento Kings choice at second overall. Suns GM Ryan McDonough says Doncic is still under consideration for the top overall pick too. Unlike most seasons, the top of this draft has a ton of moving parts right now.
DeAndre Ayton is likely the Suns’ choice. Adding in Mohamed Bamba, Jaren Jackson Jr, and Marvin Bagley III could cause Doncic could slip all the way to the Mavericks at fifth overall.

Luka Doncic is the top player in this class. He is dominating the second best league in the world as a 19-year-old young man. Doncic won Euroleague MVP this season. Already a star, but he continues to get better. He is 6’6 with the ability to play forward and run the offense like a point guard. Doncic is a modern NBA GM’s dream, and if the Kings pass on him with the second overall pick, it is a mistake.
Final thoughts
Luka Doncic is staying in the 2018 NBA Draft. The Slovenian figures to be a top-five pick and should be ready to play significant minutes as a rookie in the NBA. Remember, Doncic has four years of professional experience in Europe.
Teaming him with Bogdan Bogdanovic and De’Aaron Fox is building some big-time excitement to watch the Kings this fall.
Hopefully, the Sacramento front office makes a wise choice on draft night and secures their superstar to build around as they head towards contention.
