Sacramento Kings wing Garrett Temple took to Twitter after Uber deactivated his account.  He regained the use of their service proving the power of social media.

The Sacramento Kings signed Garrett Temple in 2016 to a three-year contract, but the final year was a player option.  The wing now has eight million reasons to return to Sacramento next season.  He has provided leadership and fantastic community outreach during his two seasons with the Kings.  Both parties would likely welcome a return.

Temple found out the power of social media in recent days, though.  Here is his original Tweet from June 8.

Misunderstanding

Clearly, some misunderstanding took place here.  Temple seemed puzzled and wanted to continue using their services.  The story caught on and continued gaining momentum.

Change of heart

Neither party was happy with the first solution, so apparently another outcome was reached via Dave Carmichael.

That was a fast turnaround and shows that social media can be used in plenty of different ways.  Hopefully, Temple can stay out of Uber trouble in the future.

Final thoughts

Garrett Temple momentarily lost the use of his Uber account before using Twitter to get access to the ride service back.

Despite that interesting tale of social media power, Kings fans likely are thinking about Temple for a different reason.  The resolution of his is the last of their player options before they can focus fully on the draft and upcoming free agency.  The front office can better plan to use their cap space after Temple’s decision.  Hopefully, he makes the choice before draft night on June 21.

Expect the Kings to get creative if Temple returns.  Iman Shumpert and GT play the same position, and there will not be minutes available to keep both happy.  It is doubtful both see the entire 2018-2019 season out on the Kings roster, so stay tuned.
