NBA Mock Draft 2018: Sacramento Kings choose Luka Doncic at pick 2

The Sacramento Kings moved up to the second overall pick after the lottery.  This article provides a mock draft and details why the Kings will select Luka Doncic.

The Sacramento Kings had a fantastic 2018 NBA Draft Lottery night on May 15.  The Kings were slotted seventh heading into the night but moved up fast.  Sacramento won the second overall pick and had their fans pumped for the June 21 draft night already.

Today, we will take a look at the number two overall pick and examine why the Kings should select Luka Doncic with that pick.

No. 2 Overall

Sacramento and GM Vlade Divac will have plenty of options come draft night.  There are only two players they should consider, though.  It should be Luka Doncic or DeAndre Ayton.  Ayton seems to be the consensus top selection leaving the Kings with only one option.

Why Luka Doncic

Doncic is a 6’8 guard with ball handling ability and has NBA veteran presence as a 19-year-old.  He has four years professional experience with Real Madrid and can do so many things.  Doncic’s 3-point shooting and shot creation figure to make him one of Sacramento’s leading scorers as a rookie.

The young Slovenian can play defense and off the ball as well.  It is hard to find anything negative to say about the young man.  He may not be the best athlete in the class, but Luka Doncic is the basketball player Kings fans have waited years to have on the team.  Doncic is the type of player that could quickly end their playoff drought.

Final thoughts

The Sacramento Kings moved up to pick two overall in the 2018 NBA Draft and should select Luka Doncic with that selection.  Doncic is a wing that plays like a point guard and can be a versatile defender.  Kings fans are over the moon excited for the draft after moving up.  It should be a fun next month to follow the team.
