This article will show what the odds are that the Sacramento Kings win tonight’s draft lottery as well as who they should select if they end up victorious

The day Sacramento Kings fans have been waiting for is finally here. The NBA Draft Lottery will start this evening which will determine which spot the Kings will be placed in the first round of this year’s NBA Draft.

Odds For Each Pick

Currently, the Kings hold the seventh spot in the draft due to being the 24th ranked team in the NBA. But the lottery gives them the chance to either move up and down from the lineup.

According to Hoops Habit, the Kings have a slim 5.3% chance of receiving the first overall pick in the draft while having an 18.3% chance of landing in the top three. The most likely destination for the Kings is to land the seventh overall pick as they have a 57.3% of doing so and a 24.4% chance of dropping down in the draft order.

What Happens If They Get #1?

If the Basketball Gods decide to bless the Kings in this year’s lottery, what should they do with the #1 pick? To me, there are two players that have star potential in this class. But to make this more fun, let us analyze three potential prospects.

DeAndre Ayton

The saying “a man against boys” is an accurate evaluation when looking back at DeAndre Ayton’s collegiate career. For the freshman that stood over seven feet tall and weighed around 250 pounds, he averaged 20.1 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per contest in the 35 games he spent with the Arizona Wildcats.

If the Kings were to select Ayton, they would be getting a star talent who could help the team on both ends of the floor. If Ayton lives up to the hype, he could singlehandedly accelerate the rebuilding process for the Kings franchise.

Marvin Bagley Jr.

Marvin Bagley III has been on top of many mock drafts since last summer when he decided to play for the University of Duke. In his lone season with the Blue Devils, Bagley dominated his competition thanks to his supreme athleticism and motor. As a result, he helped lead Duke to the Elite Eight in the March Madness tournament and averaged 21 points, 11.1 rebounds, and almost one block for the season.

If Bagley were to be a King, he would be a lively player with a very high ceiling. In my opinion, he is a raw talent at this point in his basketball life. But if the Kings are able to help him develop and reach his potential, a future star may be repping purple and white in the near future.

Luka Doncic

To me, Luka Doncic is the safest player in this year’s draft. The 6’6″ guard shined in EuroLeague basketball this season which is very impressive considering Doncic is just 19 years of age. In the 57 games he spent with Real Madrid, Doncic averaged 14.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game while making 46.1% of his shots from the floor, 30.6% from the three-point line, and 80.6% from the free-throw line.

If the Kings do select Doncic in the draft, they would be getting a player who can contribute right away. He is already a polished player on the offensive end and his body already seems to be NBA ready which will help him handle the physicality of the league.
