Sacramento Kings promote Peja Stojakovic to assistant GM

Sacramento Kings executive Peja Stojakovic got a new title on May 9.  Continue reading to find out more about his promotion.

The Sacramento Kings brought back one of their own in 2015.  Peja Stojakovic was a Kings first-round draft pick in 1996.  He played seven and half seasons with Sacramento including three All-Star appearances.  Stojakovic was also a key cog in the Kings successful run in that era.  He returned to the Kings front office three years ago in the hopes helping return the team to contention.

That job is not complete, but Stojakovic got a promotion on Wednesday.  Below is a Tweet from Sean Cunningham detailing the news.

Reaction

Peja Stojakovic appears to be a wonderful fit for the new role.  With the G-League team moving closer expect the Kings to use it more frequently.  Therefore, Stojakovic will work closely with the young men the team is hoping to develop.  Only time will tell if this is a wise move, but it appears to be a near perfect use of Stojakovic’s talents.

Final thoughts

Peja Stojakovic received a promotion to assistant general manager of the Sacramento Kings on May 9.  As a result, Stojakovic becomes the third member of the Kings front office to hold that title.  His role is different, though.

The excitement is building around the team as they are piecing together a desirable young core.  Hopefully, this move is the next step in returning to contention.
