The Sacramento Kings traded for wing Iman Shumpert in February.  Today, Shumpert is given a grade for his performance with the Kings this season.

The Sacramento Kings continue to rebuild and remake their roster.  It started with the DeMarcus Cousins deal in February 2017.  The Kings continue to make moves and amass young talent.  In a February 2018 trade, the team acquired Iman Shumpert.

Today, we put Shumpert’s time with the King under the microscope and attempt to give him a grade for this season.  Without further ado, let us roll right into it.

Overall grade for the 2017-2018 season: I

The only fair grade to give Iman Shumpert is I for incomplete.  He did not play a single minute for the Kings after the trade.  Shumpert was bothered by plantar fasciitis most of the season.  The foot injuries limited him to just 14 games.  He played only one game total after the calendar flipped to 2018.  Hopefully, Shumpert gets the proper rest and treatment this offseason and is fully healthy by training camp.

Final thoughts

Iman Shumpert was a member of the Sacramento Kings since the team acquired him at the trade deadline.  He failed to play any minutes on the court with the Kings due to injury.  That means the only fair grade for him to earn for the season was I for incomplete.

Shumpert has an 11 million dollar player option for next season.  That and his injuries are both things to monitor this offseason.  He is most likely back with Sacramento.  Shumpert turns 28 in June, so with the proper care, he should also be healthy.

Shumpert’s return will create a crowded wing situation for the Kings.  Bogdan Bogdanovic and Buddy Hield both proved this season they deserve 30 minutes plus per night roles.  Then, Shumpert, Garrett Temple, and Justin Jackson all deserve run as well.  Depth is a fantastic problem to have Kings fans.
