Vince Carter achieved a rare milestone on March 31 by playing in his 1,400 NBA game. The veteran continues to move up the All-time list.
Vince Carter may be in his first season with the Sacramento Kings, but he is a future Hall of Famer. The 41-year-old has accomplished a lot on the basketball court. From being an eight-time All-Star to taking home the Rookie of the Year in 1999 to winning the Slam Dunk Contest, Carter does not have much to prove. That does not stop the accolades from continuing to roll in, though.
1,400 games
Vinsanity reached another milestone on March 31 against the Golden State Warriors. It was not a great night for the Kings as the Dubs dominated them, but Carter earned a personal accomplishment. It was his 1,400th NBA game. Carter became the tenth player in NBA history to reach that milestone. That longevity is amazing. The ability to stay healthy or battle through injuries and play every game is among the most underrated in sports and Carter exemplifies those traits.
He has a long way to go to break the record, though. Robert Parrish played in 1,611 games, so Carter would need to play in every game for the next two and half seasons to catch Parrish. An unlikely feat considering Carter is already over 40.
A scary play mars the evening
An inadvertent and misjudged play by Vinsanity likely will put a damper on the achievement, though. You can watch the play below.
The play was unfortunate and thoughts go out to Patrick McCaw and the Warriors. Hopefully, he makes a speedy recover.
Final thoughts
Vince Carter played in his 1,400th career game on March 31. The King continues to climb the All-time list, and perhaps that is why he keeps getting minutes. I have been critical of Carter playing in the past, but that takes nothing away from this accomplishment. It is a fantastic feat of both skill and longevity. I hope Carter finds a contender to play for next season and continues his NBA career. The man can still ball. Watching him dunk has been a trill for the last 20 plus years.
