Bogdan Bogdanovic sat out of the Sacramento Kings game on March 19 with a sore left hamstring. Continue reading for more information.

Bogdan Bogdanovic might classify as a rookie, but the 25-year-old has not played like one this season.  First-year players do not shoot 39.9% from 3-point range, or make plays as a two-guard, or be a lockdown defender, but Bogdanovic does.  The Sacramento Kings certainly have a special talent in their locker room.  That is why the news that came out before Monday’s game was so disappointing.  Below is a Tweet from James Ham detailing Bogi’s status.

The injury

Sore left hamstring does not sound all that serious, but those injuries can be tricky.  Conventional wisdom says if the hamstring is sore that it is likely strained (or pulled) to some degree.  Professional athletes start feeling better after a short rest only for the injury to flare back up.  That is why the Kings will likely manage this injury carefully.  Sacramento next plays on Thursday when they host the Atlanta Hawks.  Keep an eye out for Bogdanovic’s status as the tipoff approaches.  Do not be surprised to see him miss that contest as well.

Who steps up?

Buddy Hield moved into the starting lineup with Bogi sidelined and took full advantage.  Hield continued his hot form with 20 points, six rebounds, four assists, three 3-pointers made, and two steals against the Pistons.  Expect him to continue to play a larger offensive role with Bogdanovic out.

Final thoughts

Bogdan Bogdanovic’s sore hamstring caused him to miss the March 19 game against the Detroit Pistons.  Stay tuned for more information about the injury.  The Kings need Bogdanovic healthy but do not expect him to rush back.  Hopefully, his return comes on Thursday.
