Skal Labissiere missed his second consecutive Sacramento Kings game on March 12 with a bruised hip. Continue reading for more information.

Skal Labissiere continues to have a frustrating second NBA season.  The Sacramento Kings’ big man started slowly as a rookie but showed promise post-All-Star Break.  The minutes opened up, and Labissiere delivered.  That made the early stages of this campaign more disappointing as he barely played and struggled when he did.  It appeared he was again picking up steam post All-Star Break until this happened on March 9 against the Orlando Magic.

The injury

Labissiere suffered a bruised left hip on that scary fall.  He missed the last two games as a result.  The Kings play again on Wednesday, but no word on if Skal will be ready to suit up.  A fall like that could cause a bone bruise that would cost him weeks.  No word on the severity of the injury, so keep an eye out for any updates.

Who steps up?

Sacramento is forced to play the veterans with Labissiere out.  Zach Randolph slides down to the four opening minutes for Kosta Koufos at the five.  The Kings also play small ball with Vince Carter and Justin Jackson at the four.  Coach Joerger is limited in his frontcourt options so you cannot fault him for playing the veterans, but it is not the scenario any Kings fan wants to see.  Hopefully, Labissiere returns on Wednesday and the Kings play the young talent down the stretch.

Final thoughts

Skal Labissiere missed his second consecutive game on Monday with a bruised left hip.  Labissiere took a nasty fall against the Magic to suffer the injury, and there is no word on the severity.  Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
