Sacramento Kings’ rookie, De’Aaron Fox, has been given the opportunity to participate in the NBA Rising Stars Game which is scheduled to be played during All-Star weekend.

The youth of the Sacramento Kings is starting to take over NBA All-Star weekend. It has been confirmed by Yahoo Sport’s Shams Charania that De’Aaron Fox will participate in the Rising Stars game which takes place during NBA All-Star weekend. He will be part of the U.S. Team’s roster.

The reason why Fox is now added to the game is that Lonzo Ball, who was originally selected to play, has opted out due to resting a knee injury he suffered earlier in the season.

Once the news came out that Ball would be sidelined until after All-Star weekend, it seemed inevitable that Fox would be his replacement for the event.

In my opinion, the Kentucky speedster has recently shown massive progress in his development as he has looked more comfortable competing against NBA competition and facilitating the Kings’ offense. As a result, Fox has averaged roughly around 14 points and five assists a contest since the new year has arrived.

Final Thoughts

Overall, this recent news is great for the Kings and their fans. The Kings have not had a player represent the franchise in the Rising Stars game since Isaiah Thomas did so back in 2013. Now Sacramento has three players in the event with Fox, Buddy Hield, and Bogdan Bogdanovic.

It has been a long road, Kings fans. But it seems like the youth of the purple and white is heading in the right direction. Maybe this rebuild will work after all…

The Rising Stars Challenge is scheduled to be played this upcoming Friday at 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time)
