The Sacramento Kings have traded Malachi Richardson to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Bruno Caboclo.

The Sacramento Kings were busy right before the NBA Trade Deadline expired. Not only did they complete a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Utah Jazz which had them acquire Iman Shumpert, Joe Johnson, and a future second-round pick, but they also completed a deal which sent Malachi Richardson to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Bruno Caboclo.

There were reports right after the trade which stated the Kings were planning on waiving Caboclo, but now it has been confirmed by CSN Bay Area’s James Ham that the 22-year old Brazilian will remain in purple and white for now.

Who Is Bruno Caboclo?

For the Kings, this trade lands them a young talent who has solid potential. For Caboclo, he is an athletic and lengthy wing player who stands at 6’9″ (8’0″ wingspan) and weighs around 205 pounds.

Caboclo has not seen much time on the NBA hardwood this season. For his 2017-2018 campaign with Toronto, he averaged zero points and under one assist and rebound as he played three-and-a-half minutes per contest. Caboclo has spent most of this season playing for the Raptors’ G-League team, Raptors 905, where he averaged 14.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in the 34 games he played in.

Final Thoughts

Overall, a minor trade for Sacramento as they decided to move Richardson in exchange for Caboclo. My first reaction to Caboclo is that he is an extremely raw talent who has some chance of becoming an asset for the Kings going forth.
