George Hill returns: Drops 21 points against the Clippers
By Tyler Watts
George Hill missed three straight Sacramento Kings games with a personal issue, but he returned on Jan. 11. Today, we examine his return and what it means for the team.
George Hill is a proven NBA veteran and starter for Sacramento Kings this season. Hill missed three consecutive games with a personal issue but returned on Thursday against the LA Clippers. He was immediately thrust back in the starting five and once again produced. Hill played 35 minutes and scored 21 points with three rebounds, three assists, two steals, one 3-pointer made, and one block in the 121-115 loss to the Clippers. Below is a highlight video of that game.
What the news means
The news means Hill is back and healthy. All reports are positive, and his new baby is here. The question now shifts to how much longer he stays in Sacramento? Will the Kings trade him for draft pick compensation and look to move forward with De’Aaron Fox as the lone point guard? Only time will tell, but I thought Fox looked impressive with Hill out of the fold. The youngster could be ready to take over and further his development.
Final thoughts
George Hill returned on Jan. 11 against the LA Clippers. Despite, a solid statistical performance from Hill, the Kings failed to defeat the Clippers. Hill should continue to start on Saturday as they travel to Los Angeles to face the Clippers again. Keep an eye on the trade rumors, though.
