The Sacramento Kings host the Denver Nuggets on Jan. 6 in a regular season game. This article previews that game from a Kings’ perspective.
The Sacramento Kings return after three days without a game to face the Denver Nuggets this evening. The two teams have played twice already this year with the Nuggets winning by double-digits in both meetings. The Kings continue their homestand this evening riding a three-game losing streak as well.
Last time out, the Kings hosted Kemba Walker and the Charlotte Hornets. The Hornets rode a 40 point second quarter to a 131-111 victory on Tuesday. Below is a highlight video of that game.
Without further ado, here is the top thing to watch for tonight and some final thoughts on the contest between the Sacramento Kings and the Denver Nuggets on Jan. 6.
Jokic vs. WCS
If you ever want to fall into the Youtube rabbit hole do a search for Nikola Jokic passes on there. Jokic is the Nuggets center, but he produces some of craziest dimes in the league. He is a joy to watch, but the Kings have done a fair job at defending him this season. In the two games, Jokic is averaging 8.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.0 3-pointer made and 1.0 steal per game. The peripheral numbers are substantial, but Sacramento has held his scoring in check.
The job will fall on Willie Cauley-Stein and Zach Randolph this evening. I am most looking forward to Jokic and WCS matching up as it is battle of two young centers who both possess a myriad of skills the tradition big could only dream of using. I could see Cauley-Stein being called upon early after Z-Bo struggles to defend Jokic. Trill has had success against the Joker in the past, so believe in him again this evening. Hopefully, Cauley-Stein has a monster game, and that vaults him into more minutes throughout 2018.
Final thoughts
Please tune in and what should be a fun game between the Sacramento Kings and the Denver Nuggets. I know Denver has owned the Kings this season, but believe in Sacramento tonight. The Nuggets are playing the second of a back-to-back, and the home crowd will give the Kings a little extra. Hopefully, those factors are enough to earn a victory for the squad this evening.
