The Sacramento Kings host the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 29 in a regular season game. This article previews that game from a Kings’ perspective.
The Sacramento Kings host the Phoenix Suns tonight. The Kings are in the midst of a six-game homestand and do not leave the state of California until Jan. 15. The upcoming stretch is their most friendly of the entire season.
Last time out, Sacramento hosted the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Kings did a fantastic job limiting LeBron James and rode an exceptional game from Vince Carter including 24 points to a 109-95 victory on Wednesday. Below is a highlight video of that game for your enjoyment.
Without further ado, here is the top thing to watch for tonight and some final thoughts on the contest between the Sacramento Kings and the Phoenix Suns on Dec 29.
Booker vs. Bogdan
Kings’ 25-year-old rookie Bogdan Bogdanovic is finally coming into his own in the NBA. Coach Joerger is giving Bogdanovic about 30 minutes a night and using his strengths with De’Aaron Fox sidelined. Bogdanovic has the ball in his hands more and has the freedom to create offense. That resulted in a 16 point and eight assists game against the Cavs. Bogdanovic is also an underrated defender, and he will get the chance to show off that ability tonight against the Suns’ star player.
Devin Booker returned on Tuesday after missing nearly three weeks with a shoulder injury. Booker scored 32 points in his return and upped his season average to 24.6 a game. He is playing a hybrid scorer and primary ball handler role for Phoenix and figures to be the principal asset the Kings need to stop. Expect Bogdanovic and Booker to matchup plenty this evening. Garrett Temple will also draw the task of guarding Booker. If they can limit his output, it will go a long way in Sacramento securing a victory.
Final thoughts
There you have it, the matchup I am most looking forward to in the tussle between the Sacramento Kings and the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 29. Tonight is the third of four regular-season meeting between the two teams. They have split the previous meetings with Sacramento winning the most recent duel on Dec. 12. Expect another close game between two young rebuilding squads. Please tune in and enjoy the contest.
