Sacramento Kings Will Be Without George Hill Against Philly

TORONTO, ON - DECEMBER 17: George Hill
TORONTO, ON - DECEMBER 17: George Hill

The point guard situation may be tricky for the Sacramento Kings tonight when they face off against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Sacramento Kings play against the Philadelphia 76ers tonight, but they may be thin at the point guard spot. Reported by James Ham, Kings Insider for NBC Sports Bay Area, George Hill is ruled out for tonight’s game due to illness.

Ham also reported that there is a chance De’Aaron Fox could be sidelined too as he has been nursing a quad contusion he suffered last week against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

No Need To Worry

Both points guards for Sacramento could potentially be sidelined for tonight, but I do expect Fox to play as he is listed  “probable” for the game. With that being said, however, I do expect Frank Mason III to receive most of the point guard minutes tonight, whether he starts or not.

For the season, Mason has been a delight as he is averaging over seven points, three assists, and two rebounds a contest in limited action. He has run the Kings’ second unit well as of late and continues to prove he can be a valuable asset to the team going forth.

Final Thoughts

There is no doubt that losing Hill for tonight will negatively impact Sacramento, especially since the nine-year veteran has been playing well for the past week. But the Kings still have good depth at the point guard spot so the absence of Hill is not too much of a setback for the team.

With Fox and Mason potentially being the Kings’ two facilitators for the long haul, tonight’s match will give us a little taste of what the future has in store.
